About CountMyBits
CountMyBits is a small, silly calculator for adults that estimates how many, ahem, bits you’ve seen. The answer comes back as roses and eggplants, the number is wildly inflated on purpose, and the whole point is to send it to your friends and laugh. It isn’t a measurement of anything.
How it started
Plain curiosity about how comedically high that number would get. Add up a few habits, multiply generously, and… yep. Very high. The curiosity became a calculator, and the calculator picked up roses, eggplants and a lot of nice things to say.
Why it exists
Party questions like "how many have you…" have been around forever, and they usually end one of two ways: everyone laughs, or someone feels judged. CountMyBits is meant to keep the laugh and lose the judgment. That's why the math is deliberately ridiculous (see How it works). When the number is obviously absurd, nobody can take it as a verdict on anyone's life.
The site also has written guides about the culture around quizzes like this, such as where confessional quizzes came from, why we love sharing results, and how to play reveal-your-score games kindly. Start with From Rice Purity to BuzzFeed or Group Quiz Etiquette.
Our one rule: never shame anyone
Every result gets a compliment. That's not a slogan, it's how the quiz is built:
- Every result gets something nice said about it, from a perfect zero to numbers with their own zip code.
- No line is a put-down. A low number isn’t “innocent.” A high number isn’t “wild.” They’re just numbers.
- The jokes punch at the math, not at you. When a total gets huge, the saying jokes that "the calculator is sweating," not that there's something wrong with the person.
- Lines have to be literally true. If one says “over five hundred,” every number that can get it is over five hundred.
If something on the site ever reads as a put-down, we'd like to hear about it so we can fix it. Email [email protected].
Why 18+
The quiz asks about adult life, so it's for adults. It sits at /quiz, behind a quick age check that asks you to confirm you're 18 or older before it starts. Everything else, including this page, the FAQ and the guides, is readable by anyone who wanders in. It’s PG on purpose: no anatomy, no graphic language, no explicit wording.
We keep the quiz's own wording behind the check, and we never ask for your name, email or an account. Your answers aren't stored. A scorecard is saved only if you choose to share it. The details are on How it works and in our Privacy Policy.
Entertainment, not advice
Nothing on CountMyBits is scientific, medical, psychological or relationship advice. Please don't use a result to make decisions about anything that matters. Use it to make your friends laugh.
