This Privacy Policy explains how CountMyBits (“we,” “us”) handles information when you use our website at https://countmybits.com. By using the site, you agree to this policy.

What this site does
The site offers a short joke quiz that makes a playful guess at how many, ahem, bits you’ve seen, counted in roses and eggplants, from answers you enter. Results are for laughs only. The home page explains how it works; the quiz itself is at /quiz, behind an 18+ check.
Information we collect (quiz answers)
Quiz answers you enter are used to calculate your result in the moment. We do not create user accounts, and we do not send your quiz answers to analytics or keep them as a lasting personal profile. If you tap a share or invite button, we store your scorecard image and its summary (the estimated counts, the euphemisms shown, the total, and your saying) so the share link works; your individual answers are not stored. Server requests needed to compute a result may be processed transiently by our hosting provider as part of normal web traffic.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use a first-party cookie (hmhys_age_ok) to remember that you confirmed you are 18+ for about 30 days so we don’t ask every visit. Google Analytics uses cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies as described below; for visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland its cookies are off by default (see “Your consent choices”). Ads appear only on some written content pages, and Google may set advertising cookies there (see “Advertising”).
Analytics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: for example, how many people start and finish the quiz, which broad result range they land in (like “51–500”), and whether they download or share a scorecard. These are anonymous usage events. We do not send your quiz answers, name, email, or share-link IDs to Google Analytics. Google Analytics uses cookies and collects standard technical data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device and browser type. Your consent choices (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Google Analytics starts with analytics and advertising storage set to “denied”. In that limited mode it doesn’t set or read analytics or advertising cookies; Google may still receive basic, cookieless measurement signals (Google “consent mode”). On the content pages that show ads, Google’s certified consent message may appear, and you can accept or decline before analytics or advertising cookies are used. Elsewhere nothing changes that default and those cookies stay off.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
We use Google AdSense to show ads only on written content pages: the guides and guide articles, How it works, and the FAQ. Ads never appear on the home page, the quiz, its 18+ check, quiz results, shared scorecards, or our legal and contact pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and/or other sites. Users may opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings or via www.aboutads.info. How we use information
To run the quiz and show results; to remember age confirmation; to understand how the site is used through anonymous analytics; to serve and measure ads on content pages; to operate, secure, and improve the site; to comply with law if required.
Data retention
Age-confirmation cookie lasts about 30 days (or until you clear cookies). Transient server logs are retained according to our host’s practices. We do not sell mailing lists of quiz answers.
Shared scorecards (the image and summary saved only when you tap share or invite) are automatically deleted 90 days after they’re created. After that, the share link stops working. If you’d like a shared scorecard removed sooner, email [email protected] with the /r/ link. We’ll remove it on request; we don’t promise a turnaround time.
Hosting and third parties
The site is hosted by third-party infrastructure (currently DigitalOcean, which also stores shared scorecard images). Those providers may process IP addresses, user agents, and similar technical data to deliver the site. Analytics and ad partners are described above.
Children / 18+
This site is for adults 18 years or older. It is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, do not use the quiz. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your choices
Clear site cookies to reset age confirmation. Use browser controls to block cookies. Use Google Ads Settings / aboutads.info for ad personalization opt-outs where available. Opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. In the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off by default; if a consent message is shown in the future, use it to accept or decline cookies. To ask for earlier removal of a shared scorecard, email us the /r/ link. Contact us with privacy questions.
